JIM CARREY: A STAR 

 

Jim Carrey b. 17 January 1962 is a famous actor and comedian.  He became popular in the 1990s When he starred in a string of box office hits with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber in 1994.  The next year, 1995, Jim Carrey starred in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and Batman Forever. 

Ace Ventura (1994 & 1995) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ace Ventura is a great film. The best thing about it is the comical way Carrey plays his role.  I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It is a classic and easy film to watch repeatedly. The sequel, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls made in 1995, is equally fun. Also, a 4 out of 5 stars. A film with many laughs. 

In 1994, Jim Carrey also starred in The Mask. It is brilliant how he can switch between the times when he wears the mask and when he is not. For the dancing, Jim Carrey used a stunt double, but this did not affect his acting performance. Another 4-star film that can be watched many times.

            The Mask (1994) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

His career grew with films like Liar Liar. It is a different and more dramatic film, but still very comedic as Jim Carrey's character cannot lie and he's a lawyer. Once again, an incredibly good film and well performed. 4 out of 5 stars!  

It’s definitely a film that you can watch again and again. 

Liar Liar (1997) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jim Carrey has been just as amazing in dramatic roles such as in The Truman Show. I really liked it and might watch it again.  He won a Golden Globe for this performance. 

His dramatic role in Man on the Moon (1999) also earned him a Golden Globe proving that he is a very versatile actor.

Mr Popper's Penguins (2011) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In 2011 he starred in the movie adaptation of Mr. Popper's Penguins. It was a clever film, and I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It is a good laugh, and I will watch it again.  

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

His latest films appearances are in Sonic the Hedgehog where he portrays Dr Robotnik, the mad scientist in 2020 and Sonic 2 in 2022. They are unusual for me because they use animation along with the actors. Both are 4 out of 5 stars for me and I would watch them again as they were a lot of fun. Jim Carrey is set to reprise his role in Sonic 3.  

Overall, every Jim Carrey film is worth a watch. He is a master of comedy and an amazing dramatic actor whose career should be praised and remembered.
