Stuart's domino sixies project

                     CRAIGMILLAR DOUBLE SIXIES

On a Wednesday we go to the Jack Kane Centre to play dominos and there is a trophy that we play for. The people that are in the team are Davie, Stuart, Danny, Rebecca, Larry and sometimes other people come and join us later on if they want to.The team are all very competitive also they help each other out if they get stuck. I have a few friends with impaired vision and I help them by calling out the numbers when it’s their turn, so that they know what they require. For some of you that don’t understand the rules of dominoes let me try and explain them to you. What the rules are we normally get seven dominoes each and then we start with the double nine, if nobody has it we then go down to the double eight, if nobody has that what we do then is we keep going down until someone is able to start the game. What we also do as we are playing is one of the staff members who are with us they usually keep the scores for us.The way they are made is they have bumps on them so that it’s easy for people impaired vision to feel them. The other thing is that once we tell the person when it’s their turn on what they require, if he or she hasn’t got it then they say if they are chapping or not.  The other thing that happens is we usually play up to three games and whoever wins the three games the person wins the trophy and they get to keep it for a week. Sometimes when people win the trophy they forget to bring it back the following week. In 2020 we are hoping to make up a certificate until they bring it back. We are also looking at competing against other services within Capability Scotland. I hope you found this interesting. Look out in our blog for up to date information on our team the double sixes.
